I opened the Texian Shop in 1983 to provide architects, builders, designers and homeowners with the highest quality Architectural woodwork available. Examples include entry and interior doors, wainscoting, paneling, mantles, and custom moldings. Many beautiful woods are available which are hand-selected for their natural color and beauty.
Although The Texian Shop is a complete millwork and furniture shop, I have mostly gained recognition as an entry door maker, but it is not unusual for me to supply all exterior and interior doors for a residence. My doors grace the finest homes in Austin and the central Texas area.
I have had a loyal repeat business since opening. I still work with most of the same clients that I started with back when I first opened. Although the majority of the work done is in central Texas, I have worked with clients as far away as Westchester County, New York.
All work is done in my shop by myself with the assistance of a co-worker. No part of my work is subcontracted out, thus assuring consistent quality.
The most common way work is initiated is when I am given a set of architectural drawings. Sometimes I am given photos by home owners who would like to have something duplicated. Still others prefer to come to my shop and view my portfolio and select different elements and materials to their liking. I have many wood and molding samples which help with hands-on design.
I can bid most projects fairly easily with simple drawings. After initial pricing is agreed upon, more detailed, scaled drawings are provided before construction begins. Usually these are provided in the cost of doors (or other work). If more extensive drawings are required there may be an additional charge.
To begin work a materials deposit is required. That amount is usually 30% to 50% of the agreed total.
As a strictly custom millwork fabricator, I do not carry a "stock" inventory. Everything is made to order. As a general rule door prices start at about $1,000.00
